College Now Approved to Admit International Students

This past week, Wyoming Catholic College received notification from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) that it was now formally approved to admit international students.

“We’re very pleased at this news,” said Dr. Glenn Arbery, the College’s president. “For a number of years, we have had applicants from other countries interested in attending Wyoming Catholic, but the fact that we were not yet approved prevented us from admitting them. Now, we have the opportunity to offer our education to an even wider audience.”

“This is a big step for us,” said Jennifer Westman, the College’s Registrar and the staff member responsible for shepherding the College’s application through to completion. “Approval allows us to issue I-20 Forms—“Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status”—to prospective international students after admitting them to our program of study, and the Department requires those forms be issued to all international students prior to attendance.”

This news comes at a particularly successful time in the College’s recruitment efforts. In August, Wyoming Catholic welcomed the largest class in its history: F ifty-nine freshmen from twenty-six different states, bringing its total enrollment numbers to 177 students—a 60% growth over the last four years.

Now, thanks to the DHS’s approval, the College’s administrators look forward to welcoming representatives from multiple countries to its student body, as well.
